Entering Jewish Adulthood
Becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah at Temple Isaiah is to partake in an experience in which students are inspired and excited about their heritage and their future. A well-nourished community of youth where children feel empowered to think independently and creatively. It is a community where parents are full partners in the nourishment of their children’s souls and their own. It is a journey during which our children encounter mystery and are familiar with awe. Our students complete their Bar/Bat Mitzvah with a great sense of being part of something transcendent, much bigger than themselves. They have a deep sense of purpose and meaningful connections. They believe in themselves and others. They are motivated to make a difference, to pursue peace and justice, and have the tools to succeed.
The Bar/Bat Mitzvah is celebrated around a child’s 13th birthday. Families are sent a date request form when children are in the fourth or fifth grade. Upon receiving all of the requests our B’nai Mitzvah coordinator will contact you with your child’s date.
