Dear Parents of Students in Grades 4-6,
It’s what students have been waiting for all year, the 4-6th grade retreat! Students in Grades 4-6 are invited to Camp JCA Shalom, Malibu, for a fantastic weekend full of memorable fun and learning for all. We will begin on Friday, March 5, and end on Sunday, March 7.
This retreat has been structured as an outgrowth of our Jewish studies curriculum and is considered
an integral part of our Religious School program. ALL STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND. Rabbi Kellner will oversee all weekend activities, along with Lisa. There is a $65, non-refundable, registration fee for this retreat. There will be no other charges for students enrolled in our Religious School, since the Temple budget assists greatly with the costs of this wonderful experience. The weekend will be filled with experiential learning centered around our theme of "Raising the Roof on our Bayit, Exploring Roots in our Ancient Homes” which will take several ideas from our connection to our Matriarchs and Patriarchs, and expand them. Activities will include Judaic programming, creative arts and nature, music, sports and ropes course, and Shabbat celebration. In addition, there will be an opportunity for children to do homework, if requested. Students may also invite a friend from another congregation along, even if he/she is not enrolled in our Religious School. The cost for a friend to attend is $165 by February 16.
Please encourage your child to attend this exciting weekend. We realize it may be necessary for you to rearrange your calendar and your child's activities to allow for this, but this retreat should not be missed.
A medical doctor or registered nurse will be in residence for the entire weekend in case of medical emergencies.
Plan to meet in the lobby no later than 3:15pm for check-in. Buses will depart from Temple Isaiah at 3:45pm SHARP on Friday, March 5. Buses should return to Temple Isaiah on Sunday, March 7, at 12:00pm.
Reservations MUST be made by Tuesday, February 16, 2010. You must fill out a Registration form for EACH participant and send/fax it in to the Temple Office (more forms are available through the Religious School office). Once you have completed the registration form you must fax in the completed registration form and register online. Registration after the deadline will require an additional $20.00 late fee and will be accepted as space permits.
